The Fusion of Arts
A multi- functional building situated in the heart of Peckham Rye Station, London.

My primary objective, following market research, was to create a communal space which allowed local residents of Peckham to help take teenagers off the streets after school and to get them doing something productive and fun.

This building used the voids between the rail lines of Peckham Rye Station, so sound was a big issue. I closed off the top to create a bridge the platforms and viewing area from the roof, so people waiting for their trains could observe the ongoing performances/rehearsals.

There were no activity centres around the area that actually combined all the forms of Arts, so this gave the community many options on what they wanted to do when attending. They could practice in many of the disciplines, then perform on the main stage for the members and local residents, to showcase their developing skills.

A gallery was also included to showcase their art work alongside local artists needing space to exhibit, therefore attracting more visitors to the area.
